“No scans left this week”

A subscription includes 7 scans a week. The window is rolling: the oldest scan drops off seven days after you ran it, and the counter in the app shows when the next one frees up. Posting a chat to the community and voting on other people’s are free and are not counted against it.

The chat could not be read

Screenshot the conversation itself rather than photographing another screen, keep the message bubbles fully in frame, and upload up to five images in the order they were sent. Very dark themes, heavy compression and cropped bubbles are the usual causes.

The result looks wrong

A pattern is only reported when there is a line in the chat behind it, so a short exchange usually scores low even when it felt bad. If a pattern is clearly misread, mail us the scan and the line and we will look at it — that is how the pattern library gets better.

Subscriptions

Overreacting Yearly is $34.99 a year and Overreacting Weekly is $6.99 a week. Both renew until cancelled, and there is no trial.

• Cancel: App Store — Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Play Store — Play Store app → profile → Payments and subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel anything.
• Refunds are issued by Apple and Google, not by us: use reportaproblem.apple.com or Google Play’s refund form.
• Restore a purchase in Settings → Restore purchases, on the same store account you bought it with.

Community and reports

Publishing, voting and writing answers are free and need no subscription — they are the whole free product. Every published chat is checked automatically when it goes up, and by hand afterwards.

• Report a post or an answer from the ⋯ menu on it in the app. Reports are reviewed by a person.
• Block someone from the same menu and their posts stop appearing for you.
• Take your own post down from the ⋯ menu on your post. The image is deleted with it.
• Something needs to come down now — mail [email protected] with the link and we will act on it.

Your data

Settings → Your data holds both controls. Export my data gives you a machine-readable copy of everything attached to your device. Delete everything erases your scans, posts, answers and votes along with the device identity, and it cannot be undone. Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription — cancel that in the store first.
